The adult sailing program is for Cohasset residents who are at least 18 years old. 

CSC offers 2 levels of instruction: Learn to Sail and Adult Refresher classes.

Learn to Sail
The Cohasset Sailing Club’s beginner-friendly Learn to Sail program is for those who are new to the sport or returning after a break. Our experienced instructors will teach you the basics of sailing, and provide hands on sailing experience as you take out a 14’ Quest as part of a small crew. Quests - the same boats used in our youth programs - are wide and forgiving, making them ideal for learning. 
The program consists of eight sessions, conveniently scheduled on Saturdays to accommodate your availability. The first four lessons, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, are designed to take advantage of calmer morning winds, making it easier for beginners to learn. The following four sessions, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, will expose you to moderately stronger winds, preparing you for a variety of sailing conditions. 
By the end of these sessions, you’ll be equipped to confidently navigate Cohasset’s inner and outer harbors, either solo or with friends and family, enjoying the scenic beauty from the water.

Adult Refresher
The Cohasset Sailing Club’s Adult Refresher Course is for those who have completed the Learn to Sail course or who have sailed previously but haven't been on the water recently. This course is designed to reacquaint you with the fundamentals of sailing and update your skills in a supportive and practical environment. Our experienced instructors will be on hand to assist you and/or your group of friends on how to rig a Quest, the same boats used in our youth program, and be there as needed, either on the boat, trailing behind in a whaler or keeping an eye on you from land. 

You may register and join only the class dates that  you wish to attend. Instructors will tailor the course to the abilities of the students present on that day providing near-private lessons with a small group of students.  Beginning July 9th and ending July 27th, sessions will be held every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00 pm . 
The goal is to provide you with as many sessions as you need to pass the Helmsman Test to take out the Club’s Quests on your own or with friends and family as well as feel confident crewing on larger day sailers.

You must be able to swim 100 meters and tread water for 10 minutes without help.  You will be asked to confirm this in the registration process.  

Every participant needs a USCG certified PDF (personal flotation device)  and closed toed shoes for each class.

Private Lessons
CSC offers private lessons to our adult members during sailing season; end of June to mid August. If you've never sailed before we recommend taking the 8 week Adult Learn to Sail Class offered each Saturday morning/afternoon of the season.
Contact us through the website and someone will help facilitate the lesson using our club sail boats.
Payment can be made through the website with a CC once the lesson is scheduled. CSC also accepts checks.
